About Me

Hi, I'm Diarmuid and I have just finished my Fourth Year studying BSc (hons) in Creative Computing at SETU Waterford. The course is aimed to be 60% computing and 40% creative. Through-out my time, I have covered the following from the Adobe Collection: Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, After Effects, Audition, and Indesign.

As for coding, I have covered Website Development (HTML, CSS and JavaScript), along with using React for Web App Development, Kotlin for Mobile App Development, and Angular for my Final Year Project (which was a Web App).

EDUCATION

South East Technological University

Studied BSc in Multimedia Applications Development until May 2024, afterwards retured to for a Fourth Year studing BSc (hons) in Creative Computing at SETU Waterford.

While studying there I have:

Developed using HTML, CSS, Semantic UI, JavaScript, jQuery and Bootstrap.
Built Web Applications using React, Node.js, and Angular.
Built Mobile Applications using Kotlin.
Worked as part of different Teams and devloped Projects using Agile Methodology.

WORK EXPERIENCE - Industry Placement

DigiDev

As part of my course, I took my industry placement from college at DigiDev.

While there I worked on a variety of projects including:

I also gained many new skills such as working in a team, working to deadlines and using skills from college in real world examples.

Team member in Dry Dock Bar, senior team member in both the hotel function bar and National Opera House of Ireland.

College Work

For my Final Year Project, I designed an Events and Activites Web App which would show users events and activites in their area.
The app was created using Angular, a framework which I had never worked with before, and utilised various APIs, such as Google Maps API, Google Place Api, and Ticketmaster API.
The App used Firebase to authenticate users who could sign in, and Firestore to store a list of activities the user had saved.
A dedicated website was created for the project that can be found here which contains more details on the project, the poster created for the computing expo, and a demo video of the project working.

In Third Year, we covered React, building a Movie App pulling data from TMDB's api.
In Forth Year, Kotlin was covered, in which a notes app was created in the first semester and wishlist Mobile app was created in the second semester.

As part of Audio Production, three audio projects were created during the semester, with them being uploaded to a website for submission, I have them exactly as they were originally presented.

TFI Smarter Travel

Project Specifications: Create a audio file for submisson in the Transport For Ireland Smarter Travel Audio Competion.
I decided to focus on the new Smart bike being implemented around Ireland. The project was shortlisted for the TFI Student Awards but unfortunatly did not win.

SETU Volunteering

Project Specifications: Create a audio file for Volunteering in SETU that could be used on the University's website.
Myself and a classmate got together to write and record the dialouge for the piece. I then edited it down and added a backing track.

Ableton MashUp

Project Specifications: Create a audio file of an advertisement for The Vibe, which is a mash-up of three different songs.
We had to pick three songs that were in the Spotify dance charts, and remix them using Ableton Live.

Through-out the course, Graphic Design was covered many times through different modules, from Introduction to Graphic Design in First year to Advanced Graphic Design in Fourth.

These range from creating an album cover, to logos, to badges for birthdays.
